The crane used (2) 2x10x12' and (2) 2x6x12' pieces of lumber for each leg. The 2bys were screwed together with 3" drywall screws every couple of feet. I cut the flange off of an I-beam with my Oxy/Acetylene torch so I could sandwich it between the boards. Then lifted it into place with a come-along. Next step: back the trailer under the crane.

You really have to go by the condition of the machine with a used one. A real BP may have been in a production shop where it ran 24/7 & is totally clapped out. The R-8 taper can be a little on the light side, even for the size of machine the rest of a Bridgeport is. You might want to consider the type of work the mill will be doing, possible future work, and skill level of persons assigned to run the mill. Perhaps a slightly heavier machine with a 40 spindle taper might be something to consider.
