Regardless, a chainsaw mill is really slow. I made my own rail/guide setup out of lumber for the chainsaw mill. Getting it fastened, leveled and the Granberg mill set to depth is also time consuming. I also own a Hudson Hunter 7hp bandsaw mill. Though it's limited to about 20" diameter max it cuts about 50 times faster than my chainsaw mill.

Our DIY Alaskan mill did perfect cutting an 8 foot tree section 18" in diameter in about 10 minutes per slab. It takes about an hour to cut 5 slabs between fueling up and adding bar oil. We're cutting 1.75" thick slabs with live edge. With the chainsaw thickness of .5" this brings your total cut to about 2.25".

Installing the timberjig on the 395xp was easy enough, I did have to ream out the attachment point just a little bit to move the jig forward giving more clearance for the exhaust. Going to try milling some large birch the fire also took down this weekend. The 395xp laughed at the soft spruce lol.
